Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) plays a significant role in enabling diverse service applications by implementing efficient data sharing. However, the unique characteristics of MEC also bring data privacy and security problem, which impedes the development of MEC. Blockchain is viewed as a promising technology to guarantee the security and traceability of data sharing. Nonetheless, how to integrate blockchain into MEC system is quite challenging because of dynamic characteristics of channel conditions and network loads. To this end, we propose a secure data sharing scheme in blockchain-enabled MEC system using an asynchronous learning approach in this paper. First, a blockchain-enabled secure data sharing framework in MEC system is presented. Then, we present an adaptive privacy-preserving mechanism according to available system resources and privacy demands of users. Next, an optimization problem of secure data sharing is formulated in blockchain-enabled MEC system with the aim to maximize the system performance with respect to the decreased energy consumption of MEC system and the increased throughput of blockchain system. Specially, an asynchronous learning approach is employed to solve the formulated problem. Numerical results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed secure data sharing scheme when compared with some popular benchmark algorithms in terms of average throughput, average energy consumption and reward.

Smart grid, characterized by high efficiency, security and flexibility, is gradually replacing traditional power grid. Data aggregation technology is frequently used to avoid user privacy disclosure as a result of power consumption data transmission in smart grid. However, traditional one-dimensional data aggregation schemes fail to meet the demands of fine-grained analysis. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient privacy-preserving multi-dimensional data aggregation (P2MDA) scheme in smart grid by virtue of homomorphic encryption and superincreasing sequence. The security analysis indicates that the proposed scheme is proved to be secure in the random oracle model, satisfying all security and privacy requirements. The extensive performance analysis shows that in comparison to the related schemes, the proposed scheme achieves lowest computation and communication costs, thus appropriate for practical applications.

Vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs) is a promising network scenario for greatly improving traffic efficiency and safety, in which smart vehicles can communicate with other vehicles or roadside units. For the availability of VANETs, it is very important to deal with the security and privacy problems for VANETs. In this paper, based on certificateless cryptography and elliptic curve cryptography, we present a certificateless signature with message recovery (CLS-MR), which we believe are of independent interest. Then, a practical certificateless conditional privacy preserving authentication (PCPA) scheme is proposed by incorporating the proposed CLS-MR scheme. Furthermore, the security analysis shows that PCPA satisfies all security and privacy requirements. The evaluation results indicate that PCPA achieves low computation and communication costs because there is no need to use the bilinear pairing and map-to-point hash operations. Moreover, extensive simulations show that PCPA is feasible and achieves prominent performances in terms of message delay and message loss ratio, and thus is more suitable for the deployment and adoption of VANETs.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are an increasing important paradigm for greatly enhancing roadway system efficiency and traffic safety. To widely deploy VANETs in real life, it is critical to deal with the security and privacy issues in VANETs. In this paper, we propose a certificateless conditional privacy preserving authentication (CCPPA) scheme based on certificateless cryptography and elliptic curve cryptography for secure vehicle-to-infrastructure communication in VANETs. In the proposed scheme, a roadside unit (RSU) can simultaneously verify plenty of received messages such that the total verification time may be sharply decreased. Furthermore, the security analysis indicates that the proposed scheme is provably secure in the random oracle model and fulfills all the requirements on security and privacy. To further improve efficiency, both map-to-point hash operation and bilinear pairing operation are not employed. Compared with previous CCPPA schemes, the proposed scheme prominently cuts down computation delay of message signing and verification by 66.9%–85.5% and 91.8%–93.4%, respectively, and reduces communication cost by 44.4%. Extensive simulations show that the proposed scheme is practicable and achieves prominent performances of very little average message delay and average message loss ratio and thus is appropriate for realistic applications.

The sharing of electronic health records (EHR) in cloud servers is an increasingly important development that can improve the efficiency of medical systems. However, there are several concerns focusing on the issues of security and privacy in EHR system. The EHR data contains the EHR owner’s sensitive personal information, if these data are obtained by a malicious user, it will not only cause the leakage of patient’s privacy, but also affect the doctor’s diagnosis. It is a very challenging problem for the EHR owner fully controls over own EHR data as well as preserves the privacy of himself. In this paper, we propose a new privacy-preserving access control (PPAC) scheme for EHR. To achieve fine-grained access control of the EHR data, we utilize the attribute-based signcryption (ABSC) mechanism to signcrypt data based on the access policy for the linear secret sharing schemes. Employing the cuckoo filter to hide the access policy, it could protect the EHR owner’s privacy information. In addition, the security analysis shows that the proposed scheme is provably secure under the decisional bilinear Diffie-Hellman exponent assumption and the computational Diffie-Hellman exponent assumption in the standard model. Furthermore, the performance analysis indicates that the proposed scheme achieves low costs of communication and computation compared with the related schemes, meanwhile preserves the EHR owner’s privacy. Therefore, the proposed scheme is better suited to EHR system.

As is known, attribute-based encryption (ABE) is usually adopted for cloud storage, both for its achievement of fine-grained access control over data, and for its guarantee of data confidentiality. Nevertheless, single-authority attribute-based encryption (SA-ABE) has its obvious drawback in that only one attribute authority can assign the users’ attributes, enabling the data to be shared only within the management domain of the attribute authority, while rendering multiple attribute authorities unable to share the data. On the other hand, multi-authority attribute-based encryption (MA-ABE) has its advantages over SA-ABE. It can not only satisfy the need for the fine-grained access control and confidentiality of data, but also make the data shared among different multiple attribute authorities. However, existing MA-ABE schemes are unsuitable for the devices with resources-constraint, because these schemes are all based on expensive bilinear pairing. Moreover, the major challenge of MA-ABE scheme is attribute revocation. So far, many solutions in this respect are not efficient enough. In this paper, on the basis of the elliptic curves cryptography, we propose an efficient revocable multi-authority attribute-based encryption (RMA-ABE) scheme for cloud storage. The security analysis indicates that the proposed scheme satisfies indistinguishable under adaptive chosen plaintext attack assuming hardness of the decisional Diffie-Hellman problem. Compared with the other schemes, the proposed scheme gets its advantages in that it is more economical in computation and storage.
