Prof. Dr. Luís Cláudio Nascimento da Silva is a researcher in the field of drug development focused on the application of natural products (special plant lectins) for the treatment of infectious diseases. He has degrees in Biomedicine (2005-2008) and a Master's degree (2009-2010) and PhD degree (2010-2013) in Biological Sciences at Federal University of Pernambuco. He was a Guest Researcher in the Faculty of Science of the University of Copenhagen (2014-2016). Currently, he is working as a Professor at the Post-graduate Program of Microbial Biology at CEUMA University (São Luís, Brazil). His research group has been working on the following subjects: antimicrobials, lectins, immunomodulation, free radicals and antioxidants, probiotics, and carbohydrate formulations.
