In this article, polymer-modified concrete was studied to present the effect of using additives on its mechanical properties. This will be achieved by employing a high-performance super plasticizing admixture that significantly enhances polymer-modified concrete mechanical capabilities. The study indicates that the polymer styrene-butadiene rubber (used increases concrete mechanical properties by 10% by weight. When the dosage exceeds 10% by weight of cement, the compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths of polymer-modified concrete are diminished. With the addition of a superplasticizer with a ratio of 1.2%, regular polymer-modified concrete compressive strength has increased from 34.3 to 42.9 MPa for a 10% polymer/cement ratio. Additionally, this superplasticizer enhanced the Material's flexural and tensile strength.

Nowadays, the use of waste materials in concrete production is crucial for a clean environment and less concrete cost. This study aimed to enhance some mechanical properties of concrete utilizing integral waterproof (IWP) admixture and using waste ceramics as fine aggregate with finer particles to improve compressive strength and modulus of elasticity and absorption studied. Studies indicate increase in compressive strength and modulus of elasticity by using IWP only and also a reduction in absorption and by using ceramic powder as a replacement with normal sand, more advantages were achieved, i.e., the compressive strength increased from 41.7 to 47.8 MPa by replacing sand with some ceramic waste, and the modulus of elasticity increased from 25.22 to 29.61 GPa. The absorption lowered to only 1% while it was 1.96% for concrete without ceramic waste. Durability against sulfate attack was also studied in this research.

This study aims to investigate some mechanical properties along with durability against several sever environmental conditions of concrete using waste heat resistant glass (Pyrex glass) as a replacement of coarse aggregate with several replacement ratios. Study shows higher mechanical properties improvements by using this type of aggregate, compressive, tensile and flexural strengths were improved by 20%, 54% and 230% respectively by 75% replacement. Moreover, modulus of elasticity was also investigated, it was found that it is also increased from 2.3234 GPa for reference mixes to 2.8452 GPa for mixes with 75% aggregate replacement. The study also includes durability investigations against several severe environmentally conditions which are: acid attack and fire exposure, study shows significant improvement in resistance of Pyrex aggregate concrete against both sulphuric acid attack and fire exposure comparing with normal concrete.

Recycling plastic waste has always been vital for sustainability, besides exploiting that waste to improve the mechanical properties of concrete mixtures which contribute effectively in the field of civil engineering applications. In this research, the enhancement of compressive, tensile and flexural strength of concrete mixtures was explored using both adding plastic fibers and HP-570 super-plasticizer. Plastic waste, as fibers, was mixed with an Ordinary Portland cement for a total volume of concrete of 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2%, then the HP-570 super-plasticizer was added and the procedure was re-done. At the age of 28 days of curing, the compression strength was increased by (13.2%) while both tensile and flexural strengths were increased significantly by (117.4%) and (207.5%) respectively when using the plastic as fiber with 2%. Further improvement was gained by adding the HP-570 super-plasticizer for the concrete mixture.

Concrete is the most popular construction material and has a relatively high compressive strength and it does not crack under its own weight, but its tensile strength is much lower compared to its compressive strength. The compressive strength can be changed according to the water to cement ratio during concrete formation or mixing, while the tensile strength rises when additives are used, concrete needs reinforcing steel, and added to plain concrete, resulting in reinforced concrete. In other terms, concrete consists of sand or fine aggregate, gravel (which is a coarse aggregate), water, and cement (which is considered a bonding material), and it is a brittle material that needs reinforcement and also some admixtures to improve its low tensile resist. This research aims to increase and improve some mechanical properties of concrete by using waste tiles as coarse aggregate. The study includes replacing normal aggregates with waste tile and using them as crushed aggregate with 25, 50, 75, and 100% replacement. Studies show increment in compressive and tensile strength and flexural strength by using waste tile aggregate compared with ordinary concrete; compressive strength increased from 34.1 MPa for reference mixes without waste tiles to 39.8 MPa using waste tiles. The study included improving all mixes with polycarboxylate superplasticizer and gaining high strength concrete, especially mixes with 50, 75, and 100% waste tile aggregate; the compressive strength with totally waste tile replacement gave the highest value of compressive strength, which was 57.5 MPa, tensile and flexural strength also increased by using waste tile aggregate, and 100% replacement shows optimum values of mechanical properties in this study.

Even though concrete structures are safer than steel structures in terms of fire resistance, the risk exists in concrete structures by spalling or exploding, especially in high-strength concrete. This study aims to produce a particular type of concrete using waste ceramics as fine aggregate and waste glass as coarse aggregate and compare data with normal aggregate concrete. Studies show that using waste ceramic and glass increases the fire resistance of concrete. After fire exposure in the control mix, the residual compressive strength was 10 MPa. The waste aggregate concrete was found to be 26.9 MPa after 800 centigrade exposures, which was an excellent result. Waste materials decreased construction costs and led to a clean environment.
