Hypselostomatidae is a large family of terrestrial pulmonate molluscs currently represented by 284 extant species, most confined to Southeast Asia. The current system of grouping species into genera is based on the morphology of the apertural barriers and the level of last whorl detachment. However, these characters overlap, challenging generic definitions. In this paper, these characters are evaluated and a novel classification proposed for hypselostomatid species belonging to the genera Anauchen (17 species), Bensonella (36 species), Boysidia (7 species, in part) and Hypselostoma (85 species). We assigned all species belonging to the genera Bensonella and Hypselostoma into two and four species groups respectively, which are characterised by combinations of morphological traits. Altogether 46 new species are described, seven species in Anauchen: A. crassus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. evanidus Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. grandiportus Gojšina, Grego & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. obesus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. picasso Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. turritus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., A. jokaii Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov.; 19 species in Bensonella: B. alycaeus Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. cardiostoma Gojšina, Vermeulen & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. cristatissima Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. dha Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. dracula Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. exploda Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. fracta Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. microdentata Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. mitochondria Gojšina, Vermeulen & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. mirabilis Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. montawa Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov., B. multidentata Gojšina, A. One replacement name is proposed: H. tertiusfrater Gojšina & Páll-Gergely, nom. nov. pro Boysidia salpinx F. G. Thompson & Dance, 1983, non Hypselostoma salpinx (van Benthem Jutting, 1961) (originally described as Gyliotrachela). Gyliotrachela and Antroapiculus are both treated as junior synonyms of Hypselostoma. An additional 28 species and subspecies are reassigned to the synonymies of other taxa.

A Vietnamese malacologist Nguyen Ngoc Thach described 235 land snail species and subspecies from Southeast Asia with co-authors; further 11 species were described by an Austrian malacologist Franz Huber in Thach’s publications (2014–2019). Nearly all taxa were described in self-published books and non-peer-reviewed journals. The low quality of the published photographs, imprecise locality data, deficient literature surveys, and the lack of examination of type specimens raise reasonable doubts concerning the validity of these taxa. In this paper we list all land snails described by Thach and colleagues, and comment on approximately half of his taxa based on examination of the literature and type specimens. As a result, 102 of their taxa are moved to the synonymies of previously described taxa. Three additional taxa, described by other authors, are also considered synonyms of known species here: Helix (Ganesella?) lamyi Dautzenberg et Fischer, 1905, Helix (Plectotropis?) chaudroni Bavay et Dautzenberg, 1909, Amphidromus xiengkhaungensis Inkhavilay et Panha, 2017. Further, nine species are moved to other genera: Pearsonia huberi Thach 2016 to Spiraculum, Streptartemon huberi Thach 2016 to Indoartemon, Tropidophora huberi Thach, 2018 to Leptopoma, Microstele huberi Thach, 2018 to Apoecus, Camaena khamducensis Thach et Huber, 2018 to Hemiplecta, Camaena abbasi Thach, 2016 to Asperitas, Mysticarion huberi Thach, 2016 to Megaustenia, Helixarion annhiae Thach et Huber, 2017 to Megaustenia, and Lamprellia huberi Thach, 2018 to Trichochloritis. Chloritis bifoveata vinhensis Thach et Huber, 2018 is elevated to species level. Oospira naggsi callosa Páll-Gergely, nom. nov. is established as a replacement name for Hemiphaedusa huberi Thach, 2016, non Oospira huberi Thach, 2016. Trichochloritis mussonena Páll-Gergely, nom. nov. is established for Mussonena huberi Thach, 2018, non Trichochloritis huberi (Thach, 2018).

Pupoides karachiensis Peile, 1929 was described from beach sand taken from near Karachi (then British India, now Pakistan). To our knowledge this species has not been reported in the scientific literature for 92 years. During an ecological survey of intertidal mud flat of Korangi Creek, Karachi, we found specimens of P. karachiensis associated with P. coenopictus (T. Hutton, 1834). This is the first subsequent record of P. karachiensis since Pilsbry (1931) and we take the opportunity to redescribe the species and include notes on P. coenopictus. Shell measurements and the distributions of shells collected during the ecological study on the mud flat are also given.

In this work, the hypselostomatid land snail genus Acinolaemus F.G. Thompson & Upatham, 1997 in Southeast Asia is revised. Characters based on which the genus was originally erected are thoroughly examined and evaluated. The genus is subdivided into six species groups based on similarities in shell surface sculpture and apertural barrier morphology. Four out of five species originally described in Acinolaemus , as well as species described from Vietnam and Cambodia are moved to Clostophis . Thirteen new species of Acinolaemus are described as follows: A. altus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. asper Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. atypicus Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. ferox Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. humilis Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. microcubus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. paucidentatus Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. profundus Gojšina, Auffenberg & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. rugolabialis Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. simplex Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. singularis Gojšina, Tongkerd & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. solitus Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov ., A. zed Gojšina, Hunyadi & Páll-Gergely, sp. nov . Thus, the total number of Acinolaemus species increases to 19, all inhabiting Thailand and Myanmar.

The land snail fauna of Pakistan is poorly known. During surveys conducted in the summer months of 1990–1992 the Pupilloidea was the most diverse and commonly encountered group of land snails. The Chondrinidae, Cochlicopidae, Orculidae, and Pyramidulidae are reviewed herein. Sphyradium doliolum (Bruguière, 1792) is recorded from Pakistan for the first time. New Pakistan records for Granopupa lapidaria (Hutton, 1849), Cochlicopa cf. lubrica (O. F. Müller, 1774), and Pyramidula humilis (Benson, 1838) are provided. Pyramidula cf. salimalii is reported from localities other than the type locality for the first time. An unidentifiable species of Pyramidula is also reported.
