Dr. Cherng-Yuan Lin earned an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, in July 2017. An accomplished listee, Dr. Lin celebrates many years of experience in his professional network and has been noted for his achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. The internal combustion engine may have found new life with the biodiesel research conducted by Dr. Lin at the National Taiwan Ocean University. Dr. Lin is a Distinguished Professor of Energy who has devoted 30 years to the study of maritime sciences, especially in the area of producing fuels from marine algae. His work in producing biodiesel shows marked reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases. Dr. Lin was devoted to “Energy and Power Plants” studies at the School of Engineering Science at the University of Liverpool in England and earned a Master's degree in 1986 before completing his studies at the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Ph.D. in 1991. Dr. Lin accepted a post at the National Taiwan Ocean University in Keelung as an associate professor. In 2005, Dr. Lin became the dean of the College of Maritime Science and Management at Keelung, and was awarded a Distinguished Professor of energy in 2010. Dr. Lin took the responsibility of Acting Dean of Ocean Law and Policy during 2018–2019.
