I am Maria Antonia Serge, a researcher with a keen interest in ecology, in particular, paleoecology. I have a master’s degree in natural science obtained in 2018 and a bachelor’s degree (2015) from the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences (University of Milano, Italy). The Lombard Institute Academy of Sciences and Letters, on the proposal of a special judging committee, conferred on the master thesis the "Fondazione Grazioli 2018 Prize". I am currently a Ph.D. student at GEODE lab in Toulouse, France, and I am part of the TERRANOVA project (H2020-msca-itn). I’m working on vegetation reconstructions based on pollen data for the Holocene at the European scale as part of my Ph.D. thesis. Previously, I worked at the Laboratory of Palynology and Palaeoecology of CNR-IDPA, Institute for the Dynamics of Environmental Processes at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, as part of my master’s thesis (i.e., “Building up a pollen-vegetation-climate-environment training set from Gran Canaria as a tool for palaeoenvironment and palaeoclimate reconstructions”).
