My research focuses on environmental toxicology, particularly biomarker-based assessment of chemical stress in aquatic organisms. During my PhD, I optimized and applied panels of biochemical and physiological biomarkers in fish integrated in average biomarker response approach to evaluate in situ exposure to complex pollution. Currently, I coordinate projects focused on toxicity of degradation products of organic UV filters and on green-chemistry–driven, safer insecticide formulations against stink bugs, funded by the Provincial Secretariat for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia. My previous work also includes studies on the safety and toxicity of natural products for different applications, as well as ecotoxicological aspects of microplastics, and I have served on a PhD thesis defense committee on this topic at the University of Tarragona. I have teaching experience at the University of Novi Sad (ecotoxicology, practice) and as a biology teacher at a specialized high school for gifted students. In addition, I work as a research associate at the Petnica Science Center and as a consultant in the Chemicals Sector of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, where I am a Consultant for EU legislative harmonization within the project -Green cities transformation – smart, sustainable and low-carbon urban solutions in triangular metropolitan area -GCS.
