Ceramics are made up of water, clay, and powders. These are categorized as non-metallic and inorganic materials. It is revealed in the literature that Longquan celadon glaze had irregular cracks in glaze layers due to the relatively high content of $Na_{2}O$. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the influence of $Na_{2}O$ in the ceramic process. Control charts are a possible tool to monitor the changes in the ceramic process. For single event issues, simple random sampling strategy is utilized; however, modified successive sampling is preferred as the favored sampling strategy at regular intervals of time when the quality of any product is evaluated. Hence, this paper is designed to propose moving average $M{A_{MSS\left( S \right)}}$ and double moving average $DM{A_{MSS\left( S \right)}}$ based control charts to detect small to moderate location shifts using the modified successive sampling technique. We have highlighted the performance evaluations of designed control charts with respect to run-length metrics, and their comparison has been made with the existing $Shewhar{t_{MSS\left( S \right)}}\;$control chart. The results revealed that the $DM{A_{MSS\left( S \right)}}$ performs more efficiently as compared to the $Shewhar{t_{MSS\left( S \right)}}$ and $M{A_{MSS\left( S \right)}}\;$control charts. Further, to demonstrate the application of the designed charts, a dataset of the chemical composition of the ceramic is also utilized.

Control charts are a popular statistical process control (SPC) technique for monitoring to detect the unusual variations in different processes. Contrary to the classical charts, control charts have also been modified to include covariates using regression approaches. This study assesses the performance of risk-adjusted control charts under the complexity of estimation error by considering logistic and negative binomial regression models. To be more precise, risk-adjusted Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) and Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) charts are used to evaluate the impact of the estimation error. To compute the average run length (ARL), Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulations are conducted. Furthermore, a bootstrap method is also used to compute the ARL assuming different Phase-I data sets to minimize the effect of estimation error on risk-adjusted control charts. The results for cardiac surgery and respiratory disease data sets show that the modified control charts improve the performance in detecting small shifts.

A control chart named as the hybrid double exponentially weighted moving average (HDEWMA) to monitor the mean of Weibull distribution in the presence of type-I censored data is proposed in this study. In particular, the focus of this study is to use the conditional median (CM) for the imputation of censored observations. The control chart performance is assessed by the average run length (ARL). A comparison between CM-DEWMA control chart and CM-based HDEWMA control chart is also presented in this article. Assuming different shift sizes and censoring rates, it is observed that the proposed control chart outperforms the CM-DEWMA chart. The effect of estimation, particularly the scale parameter estimation, on ARL is also a part of this study. Finally, a practical example is provided to understand the application and to investigate the performance of the proposal in practical scenarios.

Selecting an appropriate statistical model is critical in dose-response analysis, as it directly influences the interpretation of drug efficacy and safety. This study compared Bayesian model averaging and traditional model selection approaches to identify the best-fitting dose-response model. Two benchmark datasets, Secalonic and Angina, were analyzed to assess model performance across different experimental conditions. Each dataset was fitted with a range of standard models, including linear, quadratic, exponential, and log-logistic forms Model adequacy was evaluated using the Akaike information criterion (AIC) and posterior model probabilities under the Bayesian framework. The results showed that the log-logistic model consistently provided the lowest AIC and highest posterior weight, indicating superior fit and predictive performance across both datasets. In the Secalonic data, the log-logistic model achieved an AIC reduction of approximately 21 points compared with the quadratic model, while in the Angina data, the improvement was 2 points, confirming its robustness. These findings demonstrate that Bayesian model averaging provides stable and consistent model identification while validating the dominance of the log-logistic model for dose–response relationships. In conclusion, the log-logistic model is the most appropriate and experimentally validated choice for modeling both Secalonic and Angina dose-response data.

In this era of Industry 4.0, efficient and affordable monitoring solutions are needed for the surveillance of manufacturing/service operations. In general, memory-type control charts outperform memoryless control charts when it comes to determining the changes in location and dispersion parameters of symmetrically distributed processes. Before monitoring the process location, it is essential to monitor the process dispersion, since the latter presumes that the process variance remains stable. In practice, the modified successive sampling (MSS) mechanism is preferred over simple random sampling for its cost-effectiveness and efficiency. This study was designed in order to propose moving average and double moving average control charts based on the MSS mechanism for monitoring the dispersion parameter. The performance of the proposed charts is evaluated using run-length measures, and a comparison is made with an existing control chart based on MSS and repetitive sampling. Furthermore, the application of the designed moving and double moving average charts is demonstrated using a case study related to fertilizer production. It is observed that the proposed double moving average control chart performs better than the other control charts designed under the MSS and repetitive sampling schemes.
