Dr. Jason E. Shoemaker is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, University of Pittsburgh, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Computational & Systems Biology. Before his appointment at Pitt in 2015, he held several research positions in Tokyo, Japan; namely, Project Assistant Professor & Computations Group Team Leader at the University of Tokyo; Research Associate at Japan Science and Technology’s ERATO Infection-Induced Host Responses Project; and a Visiting Researcher at the Systems Biology Institute. Dr. Shoemaker received a BS in Chemical Engineering Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida in 2003, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2009. His research interests include immunology, machine learning, and systems biology. Dr. Shoemaker has received many awards, including the NSF CAREER Award (2020).
