Biography

Marco Mellado entered the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María from 2012 to 2016 to pursue a doctoral degree in chemistry, focusing on semi-synthesis and biological evaluation of bioactive compounds using computer tools (molecular docking and QSAR). He is a researcher at the Centro de Investigación en Ingeniería de Materiales (CIIMAT) and the Grupo de Investigación en Ciencias Biomédicas Aplicadas (CiBiA) at Universidad Central de Chile. His main research area focuses on computer-aided drug design and its experimental validation through integrated techniques such as QSAR modeling, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulations. He is currently exploring the fluorescent applications of organic compounds. His research interests include organic synthesis, structure–activity relationship (SAR), QSAR, molecular docking, molecular dynamics, fluorescence, pigments, and chemosensors.
