Dr. Mario De Oliveira is an Associate Professor in Embedded and Smart Systems at Birmingham City University, Deparment of Engineering. He obtained his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Goias (Brazil) in 2005; his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) in 2007; and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from São Paulo State University (UNESP, São Paulo). From 2014 to 2015, he had the odd opportunity to become a Research Scholar at the University of Michigan, USA (Aerospace Department). Before joining BCU in 2021, he obtained the status of Associate Professor at the Mato Grosso Federal Institute of Technology (IFMT-Brazil), where he worked for about 13 years. His knowledge and expertise are across the boundaries of electronic, biomedical, structural health monitoring (SHM) systems, signal processing, embedded systems and neural networks, which are generally applied in infrastructure applications, such as aircraft, machinery, automotive, building and wind turbines.
