My research interests are gut mucosal immunology and nutrition in cultivated fish species. The recent years, studies on the nutritional and health effects of new and sustainable feed ingredients have been the focus of my research. In this research, the development and use of cell models to reduce the use of live animals has been an important aim. I hold a Ph.D. in Atlantic salmon intestine anatomy and immunology from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (2014) and have since worked as a postdoc and research scientist at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science/ Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
