Stefania Amici, PhD, is researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). She holds a Physics degree and a PhD in Earth Science with over 30 years experience in Remote Sensing and GIS. Before working at INGV her specialization was imaging spectroscopy for identification of minerals in the planets of the solar system by using absorption features recognition and innovative machine learning approaches. At INGV her research focus on natural hazards by using optical and Thermal Remote Sensing. Her recent studies involve hyperspectral technology and algorithms development for wildfires and challenging environment. She is passionate about education and knowledge transfer. which she cultivates by drafting content for social media and developing educational activities inspiring children’ STEM learning. She is currently member of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics and EUFAR and WPs leader in COMEONBORADPSG project.
