Biography

Tim Sheehan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Washington's Center for Health and the Global Environment. He received his PhD in Environmental Sciences from Oregon State University in 2019. He also holds graduate degrees in Biology, Computer Science, and Geology. His PhD research dealt with the effects of climate change on vegetation and wildfire in the Pacific Northwest, and related economic and environmental threats. His work in ecological and decision support science includes ten years at the Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) in Corvallis, Oregon. While there he worked on a variety of projects with an emphasis on modeling the effects of climate change on ecosystems and fuzzy logic decision support systems. This work included the development of the Environmental Evaluation Modeling System (EEMS) and the Modeler's Python-Implemented Library-Oriented Toolkit (MPilot). Since 2020, he has been co-developing the Climate Health and Risk Tool (CHaRT), a web-based, fuzzy logic decision support system to inform climate-related health decisions by exposing the local drivers of risks.
