THEOKLITOS S. KARAKATSANIS was born in 1964 at Alexandroupoli, Greece. He received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Ph.D degree of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in 1986 and 1995, respectively. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at School of Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), department of Production and Management. He is a Director of thermodynamics and heat engines Laboratory of Materials, Processes and Engineering Section and teaches courses in electric circuits, electrical machines, industrial electrical installations, and industrial electronics and automation. He worked for many years as a private consultant engineer and since 1989 as Elevator Engineer in many installations and maintenance services. His research interests include modelling and control of electrical machines, power electronics, driving motor systems, electricity generation and management, renewable energy sources, energy inspection and energy saving and preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis. He is a member of IEEE and member of Technical Chamber of Greece.
