Bogdan Parakhonskiy obtained his PhD from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Department of Physics, in 2009. From 2010 until 2014 he held a Marie Curie Postdoc fellowship at the University of Trento, Italy. After this, he has had 4 years of experience as a group leader in the theranostic laboratory at Saratov State University, Saratov, Russia. Since 2015 he has been a holder of a prestigious Flanders Research Foundation (FWO) fellowship at Ghent University, Belgium. His research interests focus on the design of synthesis and modification of colloidal particles; investigation of cell uptake mechanisms; crystallography of calcium carbonate, and anticancer drug delivery systems. He is a pioneer in the development of different types of containers such as calcium carbonate particles in the vaterite phase, hydrogel matrices, and hydrogel capsules.
