Dr. Marialaura Di Somma received a Ph.D degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), in 2016. In 2014, she held a position as a visiting research assistant at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Connecticut in the US, and since 2015, she has been a Research Scientist and Project Manager of the Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources Department of ENEA. Her main research interests include design and operation optimization of DER in the context of local energy systems through a multi-objective approach, bidding strategies of DER aggregators for participation in the various market options, demand response, multi-carrier energy systems modeling and optimization, and power systems design and control. She is a representative of ENEA within the EERA Joint Programme on Smart Grids and within Mission Innovation, Innovation Challenge 1 on Smart Grids. Currently, she is the project coordinator of the Horizon2020 project eNeuron on the optimization of local integrated energy communities and manages several European and national projects on the topic of multi-carrier energy systems optimization and control.
