Ana Fernández-Medina holds a degree in Physics. After working for several private companies in the aerospace and defense sectors, she is currently a member of the Space Optics Department at the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology. During these years, she has developed her work in optical engineering for several optical instruments embarked on ESA scientific space missions, such as ATLID-CAS of the EarthCARE mission and PHI of the Solar Orbiter mission. She currently supports the project management and systems engineering of the optical unit of the TuMag instrument of the SUNRISE III mission and also provides project management support for the PMI instrument of the Vigil mission. She combines her work with research in the field of fiber optic sensors based on Bragg gratings and long-period gratings. Her professional interest focuses on systems engineering applied to the development of optical instrumentation for space applications.
