Dr. Luís Mafra, born in 1978, is a Principal Researcher at CICECO—Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal. He earned his PhD from the University of Caen, France, and the University of Aveiro in 2006, specializing in solid-state NMR spectroscopy. He developed NMR methodologies for studying hybrid material structures using high-resolution CRAMPS NMR techniques and methods for observing quadrupolar nuclei. In 2011, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz, Germany. Dr. Mafra has an extensive research portfolio, with around 95 SCI research papers and 5 book chapters. He has delivered approximately 55 talks and lectures at conferences. Since 2010, he has engaged in technology transfer and collaborative research with private companies. His achievements include the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant in 2019, promotion to Principal Researcher in 2014, an honorary title as Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney (Australia) in 2014, a guest scientist position at the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 2012, and the Celestino da Costa/Jean Perrin prize in 2006. Dr. Mafra contributes to the scientific community as a member of the editorial board for Solid-state NMR (Elsevier) and serves as a reviewer for research projects.
