Professor Florentino Fdez-Riverola holds a Technical Engineering Degree in Computer Management from the University of Vigo, Spain (1994) and an Engineering Degree in Computer Science from the University of Oviedo, Spain (1999). Founding member (2001) and actual coordinator of the SING research group, he obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Vigo (2002), being honored with the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis prize. Since 2001, he has headed the SING where he works in six main lines of research (machine learning, case-based reasoning systems, hybrid AI models, agent and multi-agent systems, knowledge representation, and decision support systems) applied to five broad areas of activity (environmental prediction, spam content filtering, personalized and translational medicine research, bioinformatics, medical informatics, and ambient assisted living).
