Dr. Ma. del Carmen A. González-Chavez is a full-time professor and researcher at Colegio de Postgraduados in Mexico. She is a Biologist Pharmaceutical Chemist at Escuela de Estudios Profesionales Zaragoza, Universidad Autónoma de México (1984). Her MSc studies were in Edaphology (1989)aty Colegio de Postgraduados. Her Ph.D. studies were in the Soil Science Department at Reading University, England (2000). Her research topics are arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, plant growth-promoting bacteria, phytoremediation of metal-polluted sites, environmental microbiology, nanotechnology, and agricultural biotechnology. She was a visiting professor at Texas A&M University. She was a member of the International Society of Trace Element Biogeochemistry. Currently, Dr. González-Chávez is a member of the National Researchers System, Mexican Network of Extremophiles, and La Maison Universitaire Franco-Mexicaine.
