Biography

I have a PhD in Biology and over 10 years of experience in Forestry Research projects at both academic and corporate levels. Currently, I work at the University of Aveiro as a Researcher of the ERA Chair BESIDE project financed by the European Union’s Horizon Europe and as the Principal Researcher of the FirEProd Project, an FCT funding project that aims to assess the role of prescribed burning in forest fuel management and in fire risk reduction, and to evaluate if prescribed fire impacts forest growth. I am also collaborating on other projects developing R&D activities on forest management and post-fire forest recovery. I am part of the research team of the European project Facing Fire working to involve citizens in forest fire problems and transferring scientific/technical knowledge and civic values to the young population. I am co-supervisor of two master theses at the University of Aveiro and I am lecturing as an Invited Assistant as part of the course Wildlife Management and Conservation. Previously, I worked as the Principal Researcher of two R&D projects at RAIZ, The Navigator Company, namely Forestry Ecophysiology and Forest Management and Irrigation.
