Melissa Gurgel Adeodato Vieira is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Processes and Products Development (DDPP) of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FEQ) of University of Campinas - UNICAMP. She is a Productivity Scholar at CNPq. She has been working in recent years in environmental technologies for the reuse of industrial and mining waste and for the advanced treatment of industrial effluents contaminated by micropollutants and emerging pollutants. Her main research interests are focused on the development of new adsorbent materials from the valuation of waste and abundant and renewable materials for application in high potential environmental technologies aiming at the recovery or removal of toxic or emerging micropollutants from industrial effluents and wastewater, such as noble and toxic metals, rare earths, non-biodegradable and recalcitrant organic compounds, among others. She had participation in more than 40 research projects and partnership with industry, 29 as coordinator. She published 10 book chapters, 156 full publications from journals and 225 from international and national conferences and specialization courses in Environmental Engineering, and submitted 7 patents, one granted patent. Prof. Dr. Vieira is Member of Scientific Committee and Reviewer of papers submitted to national and international journals (+50) and several scientific technical events. She received 10 academic/scientific awards.
