Dr. Bapan Adak is a JSPS Postdoctoral Researcher at Kyoto University,
working in the area of sustainable and high barrier packaging materials.
Previously, he was a Research Fellow at the NTU Singapore (School of Material
Science and Engineering). He holds a BTech (in 2010), MTech (in 2015), and PhD (in
2019) in textile, polymer, and materials science. His PhD work was on
“Multifunctional polyurethane nanocomposite films and textile laminates for
defence applications”. He also has six years of industrial work experience in
managerial positions, having experience of working with chemical processing of
textiles and polymer coated/laminated textiles for multidirectional
applications. He has a good publication record in the form of papers in
high-impact factor journals (including a review paper in Progress in Material
Science, with current impact factor 33.6), books, book chapters, and conference
presentations. Importantly, he authored one book on ‘single-polymer composites
(Publisher: CRC Press + Taylor & Francies)’ and edited a book ‘smart and
functional textiles (Publisher: De Gruyter)’. His research areas focus on
polymer nanocomposites, coated and laminated textiles, functional and smart
materials, wearable electronics, sustainable materials, and flexible packaging
materials.
