Biography

Dr. Surbhi Chouhan acquired her Ph.D. at the National Centre for Cell Science in Pune, India. During her Ph.D. tenure, she studied the role of metabolites in cellular signaling pathways that are involved in the regulation of growth and alteration of the chemotherapeutic response in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Later, she joined Washington University in St. Louis as a postdoc and explored how the re-structuring of mitochondrial metabolic networks in prostate cancer can present mitochondrial vulnerability. Another aspect she extensively investigated was the role of histone modifications in the epigenetic regulation of cholesterol synthesis, androgen receptor function and TCR-based immune presentation for clearance of cancer cells. Currently, she is an Assistant Instructor at the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and she is keenly interested in exploring the signal transduction mechanisms of protein kinases that regulate a wide range of cellular functions.
