A bibliometric study on mapping the rice cropping systems in VMD is crucial for understanding the trend of EO-based rice mapping and how remote sensing technologies are essential to address the food security issue in the region. This article presents an overview of Earth observation (EO)-based rice mapping strategies since 1979, prioritizing the scope of data, approaches, and techniques derived from 3700 research articles worldwide and contrasting them with the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD). Various quantitative analyses were conducted through bibliometric analysis using the VOS viewer and Scopus database. Optical images, particularly the Landsat (~16%) and MODIS (~12%) time series datasets, were the most commonly utilized globally. MODIS data (~31%) had the highest share in the VMD context, followed by Landsat data (~19%), while Sentinel series (~13% for global and ~16% for VMD) data became more popular in recent years. Research on rice mapping using UAVs has been gradually creeping into rice mapping research globally, but a gap is yet to be filled in the VMD. The most widely used approaches for rice mapping globally were Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, and Principal Component Analysis. Spectral indices like EVI, NDVI, and RVI were commonly used for rice mapping and monitoring. The findings underscore the critical role of EO-based rice mapping studies in the VMD in addressing sustainability and food security challenges.

Public Key Cryptography (PKC) based schemes in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are very difficult to employ due to the resource constraint characteristics of the tiny sensors. Addressing the features of sensor nodes, in this paper, we propose a PKC based architecture, where singular value decomposition (SVD) of pseudo-inverse matrix is used for the key generation. Main attention of our paper is devoted to the security level and power consumption as the Asymmetric Key-Based Architecture is usually considered incompetent in terms of cost efficacy. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme ensures better performance in terms of security and power than other prevailing asymmetric schemes considering the MICA2DOT motes of wireless sensor nodes. In addition, it can help to realize the networks accurately, utilizing computational ability, storage and energy level of the current generation sensor nodes.
In recent years, stubble burning is highlighted as the most contentious issue related to the agriculture–water–environment triangle in India. The practice is observed mainly after kharif crop is harvested, in the northwestern part of India, covering the states of Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh. More than 23 Million Metric Tons (MMT) stubble, is burnt during late September to October each year, causing massive air pollution in the National Capital Region in Delhi, creating severe environmental and human health problems. Over the past few decades, the irrigation in this part has witnessed a major shift from canals to underlying aquifers, resulting in pervasive overexploitation of groundwater resources. The present study covers the state of Haryana, focusing on the possible reasons for the practice and whether it is linked to the steps taken by the state government to curb groundwater overexploitation, like the enactment of the Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009. A village-based study revealed that the imposition of the Act has impacted positively in reducing groundwater pumping. A host of actions are needed to combat the resulting stubble burning, for example promoting crop diversification, fine-tuning the Act in view of agronomic practice, adopting technological innovation, promoting alternative use of stubbles and also capacity building and behavioral change of farmers.
