Lev Eppelbaum is a Research Professor in the Dept. of Geophysics at Tel Aviv University (Tel Aviv, Israel). L. Eppelbaum received his MSc in 1982 from the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and Ph.D. in 1989 from the Georgian Inst. of Geophysics (Tbilisi) – Moscow Mining Academy. From 1991 to 1993, he undertook postdoctoral studies at the Dept. of Geophysics of Tel Aviv University. His interests are potential geophysical fields, satellite geophysical observations, tectonophysics, geodynamics, and environmental geophysics. He receives several awards, including the Christiaan Huygens medal of the European Geosciences Union (2019) and the gold V. Vernadsky medal of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (2017). In 2020, he was awarded the honorary professorship of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. In May 2023, he was elected a Foreign Member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Lev Eppelbaum is the author of about 440 publications, including 11 books and about 190 papers published in refereed journals. Prof. L. Eppelbaum is a member of Editorial Board in 14 International journals.
He was elected as chairperson at 26 International Scientific Conferences. Prof, Eppelbaum is a member of several International professional societies, including AGU, EGU, EAGE, IAU, EuroScience, EARSeL SIG, Sigma Xi.
