Jorge Alberto Cortes Ortega is a full-time Associate Professor with a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Doctor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara. He has published works on hydrogels including acrylamide hydrogels as alkali-dosifiers to synthesize zinc powder nanomaterials and the effect on microstructure, chemistry dosing of OH– ions from acrylamide hydrogels for the selective precipitation of copper/cobalt ions in aqueous solutions, the effective removal of Cu2+ Ions from aqueous media using poly(acrylamide-co-itaconic acid) hydrogels in a semi-continuous process, and using gels for preferential growth of nickel hydroxide through the controlled release of the base from acrylamide–crotonic acid hydrogels.
