Dr. Junfeng Xu is an Associate Professor at Xi'an Technological University. He received his PhD from the State Key Laboratory of Solidification Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University in April 2013 and was promoted to Associate Professor in October 2016. He served as a Visiting Scholar at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena from 2019 to 2020, following Peter K Galenko and Markus Rettenmayr. His research focuses on the solidification theories of Al, Fe, Ni, and Co-alloys and the preparation technology of Chalcogenide glasses. He has experience in the theory of the undercooled solidification of eutectic alloys and is proficient in computer programming for theoretical calculations. He teaches Fundamentals of Materials Science, Principles of Cast Alloys, Thermodynamics of Materials, and Principles of Solidification. His academic contributions include proposing a baseline method, constructing a temperature curve equation for the solidification process, providing a complete solution for non-steady-state diffusion equation, and considering the influence of primary phases to construct eutectic growth model for non-eutectic composition alloys. He established a model of the influence of melt overheating treatment on the solidification process, found an approximate relationship to predict solidification rate from the cooling curve.
