Virtual machine (VM) integration methods have effectively proven an optimized load balancing in cloud data centers. The main challenge with VM integration methods is the trade-off among cost effectiveness, quality of service, performance, optimal resource utilization and compliance with service level agreement violations. Deep Learning methods are widely used in existing research on cloud load balancing. However, there is still a problem with acquiring noisy multilayered fluctuations in workload due to the limited resource-level provisioning. The long short-term memory (LSTM) model plays a vital role in the prediction of server load and workload provisioning. This research presents a hybrid model using deep learning with Particle Swarm Intelligence and Genetic Algorithm (“DPSO-GA”) for dynamic workload provisioning in cloud computing. The proposed model works in two phases. The first phase utilizes a hybrid PSO-GA approach to address the prediction challenge by combining the benefits of these two methods in fine-tuning the Hyperparameters. In the second phase, CNN-LSTM is utilized. Before using the CNN-LSTM approach to forecast the consumption of resources, a hybrid approach, PSO-GA, is used for training it. In the proposed framework, a one-dimensional CNN and LSTM are used to forecast the cloud resource utilization at various subsequent time steps. The LSTM module simulates temporal information that predicts the upcoming VM workload, while a CNN module extracts complicated distinguishing features gathered from VM workload statistics. The proposed model simultaneously integrates the resource utilization in a multi-resource utilization, which helps overcome the load balancing and over-provisioning issues. Comprehensive simulations are carried out utilizing the Google cluster traces benchmarks dataset to verify the efficiency of the proposed DPSO-GA technique in enhancing the distribution of resources and load balancing for the cloud. The proposed model achieves outstanding results in terms of better precision, accuracy and load allocation.

Industrial automation systems are undergoing a revolutionary change with the use of Internet-connected operating equipment and the adoption of cutting-edge advanced technology such as AI, IoT, cloud computing, and deep learning within business organizations. These innovative and additional solutions are facilitating Industry 4.0. However, the emergence of these technological advances and the quality solutions that they enable will also introduce unique security challenges whose consequence needs to be identified. This research presents a hybrid intrusion detection model (HIDM) that uses OCNN-LSTM and transfer learning (TL) for Industry 4.0. The proposed model utilizes an optimized CNN by using enhanced parameters of the CNN via the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) method, which fine-tunes the CNN parameters and helps to improve the model’s prediction accuracy. The transfer learning model helps to train the model, and it transfers the knowledge to the OCNN-LSTM model. The TL method enhances the training process, acquiring the necessary knowledge from the OCNN-LSTM model and utilizing it in each next cycle, which helps to improve detection accuracy. To measure the performance of the proposed model, we conducted a multi-class classification analysis on various online industrial IDS datasets, i.e., ToN-IoT and UNW-NB15. We have conducted two experiments for these two datasets, and various performance-measuring parameters, i.e., precision, F-measure, recall, accuracy, and detection rate, were calculated for the OCNN-LSTM model with and without TL and also for the CNN and LSTM models. For the ToN-IoT dataset, the OCNN-LSTM with TL model achieved a precision of 92.7%; for the UNW-NB15 dataset, the precision was 94.25%, which is higher than OCNN-LSTM without TL.

In the dynamic environment of the Internet of Things (IoT), edge and cloud computing play critical roles in analysing and storing data from numerous connected devices to produce valuable insights. Efficient resource allocation and workload distribution are vital to ensuring continuous and reliable service in growing IoT ecosystems with increasing data volumes and changing application demands. This study proposes a novel optimisation approach utilising deep learning to tackle these challenges. The integration of Deep Q-Networks (DQN) and Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) offers a practical approach to addressing the dynamic characteristics of IoT applications. The hybrid algorithm's primary characteristic is its capacity to simultaneously fulfil multiple objectives, including reducing response times, enhancing resource efficiency, and decreasing operational costs. DQN facilitates the formulation of optimal resource allocation strategies in intricate and unpredictable environments. PPO enhances policies in continuous action spaces to guarantee reliable performance in real-time, dynamic IoT settings. This method achieves an optimal equilibrium between policy learning and optimisation, rendering it suitable for contemporary IoT systems. This method improves numerous IoT applications, including smart cities, industrial automation, and healthcare. The hybrid DQN-PPO-GNN-RL model addresses bottlenecks by dynamically managing computing and network resources, allowing for efficient operations in low-latency, high-demand environments such as autonomous systems, sensor networks, and real-time monitoring. The use of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) improves the accuracy of resource representation, while reinforcement learning-based scheduling allows for seamless adaptation to changing workloads. Simulations using real-world IoT data on the iFogSim platform showed significant improvements: task scheduling time was reduced by 21%, operational costs by 17%, and energy consumption by 22%. The method reliably provided equitable resource distribution, with values between 0.93 and 0.99, guaranteeing efficient allocation throughout the network. This hybrid methodology establishes a novel benchmark for scalable, real-time resource management in extensive, data-centric IoT ecosystems, consequently enhancing system performance and operational efficiency.

Cloud computing is an emerging technology composed of several key components that work together to create a seamless network of interconnected devices. These interconnected devices, such as sensors, routers, smartphones, and smart appliances, are the foundation of the Internet of Everything (IoE). Huge volumes of data generated by IoE devices are processed and accumulated in the cloud, allowing for real-time analysis and insights. As a result, there is a dire need for load-balancing and task-scheduling techniques in cloud computing. The primary objective of these techniques is to divide the workload evenly across all available resources and handle other issues like reducing execution time and response time, increasing throughput and fault detection. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to analyze various technologies comprising optimization and machine learning algorithms used for load balancing and task-scheduling problems in a cloud computing environment. To analyze the load-balancing patterns and task-scheduling techniques, we opted for a representative set of 63 research articles written in English from 2014 to 2024 that has been selected using suitable exclusion-inclusion criteria. The SLR aims to minimize bias and increase objectivity by designing research questions about the topic. We have focused on the technologies used, the merits-demerits of diverse technologies, gaps within the research, insights into tools, forthcoming opportunities, performance metrics, and an in-depth investigation into ML-based optimization techniques.

Breast cancer detection remains one of the most challenging problems in medical imaging. We propose a novel hybrid model that integrates Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) networks, and EfficientNet-B0, a pre-trained model. By leveraging EfficientNet-B0, which has been trained on the large and diverse ImageNet dataset, our approach benefits from transfer learning, enabling more efficient feature extraction from mammographic images compared to traditional methods that require CNNs to be trained from scratch. The model further enhances performance by incorporating Bi-LSTM, which allows for processing temporal dependencies in the data, which is crucial for accurately detecting complex patterns in breast cancer images. We fine-tuned the model using the Adam optimizer to optimize performance, significantly improving accuracy and processing speed. Extensive evaluation of well-established datasets such as CBIS-DDSM and MIAS resulted in an outstanding 99.2% accuracy in distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors. We also compared our hybrid model to other well-known architectures, including VGG-16, ResNet-50, and DenseNet169, using three optimizers: Adam, RMSProp, and SGD. The Adam optimizer consistently achieved the highest accuracy and lowest loss across the training and validation phases. Additionally, feature visualization techniques were applied to enhance the model’s interpretability, providing deeper insight into the decision-making process. The Proposed hybrid model sets a new standard in breast cancer detection, offering exceptional accuracy and improved transparency, making it a valuable tool for clinicians in the fight against breast cancer.

Skin cancer represents a significant global public health issue, and prompt and precise detection is essential for effective treatment. This study introduces SkinEHDLF, an innovative deep-learning model that enhances skin cancer classification. SkinEHDLF utilizes the advantages of several advanced models, i.e., ConvNeXt, EfficientNetV2, and Swin Transformer, while integrating an adaptive attention-based feature fusion mechanism to enhance the synthesis of acquired features. This hybrid methodology combines ConvNeXt’s proficient feature extraction capabilities, EfficientNetV2’s scalability, and Swin Transformer’s long-range attention mechanisms, resulting in a highly accurate and dependable model. The adaptive attention mechanism dynamically optimizes feature fusion, enabling the model to focus on the most relevant information, enhancing accuracy and reducing false positives. We trained and evaluated SkinEHDLF using the ISIC 2024 dataset, which comprises 401,059 skin lesion images extracted from 3D total-body photography. The dataset is divided into three categories: melanoma, benign lesions, and noncancerous skin anomalies. The findings indicate the superiority of SkinEHDLF compared to current models. In binary skin cancer classification, SkinEHDLF surpassed baseline models, achieving an AUROC of 99.8% and an accuracy of 98.76%. The model attained 98.6% accuracy, 97.9% precision, 97.3% recall, and 99.7% AUROC across all lesion categories in multi-class classification. SkinEHDLF demonstrates a 7.9% enhancement in accuracy and a 28% decrease in false positives, outperforming leading models including ResNet-50, EfficientNet-B3, ViT-B16, and hybrid methodologies such as ResNet-50 + EfficientNet and ViT + CNN, thereby positioning itself as a more precise and reliable solution for automated skin cancer detection. These findings underscore SkinEHDLF’s capacity to transform dermatological diagnostics by providing a scalable and accurate method for classifying skin cancer.
