Professor Lisa Wiesmüller, PhD, heads the Gynecological Oncology Section at Ulm University after academic positions at Max-Planck-Institutes for Biochemistry (Munich) and Medical Research (Heidelberg), Heinrich-Pette-Institute, Hamburg, and as EMBO fellow at Institut Pasteur, Paris. She is an expert on the field of DNA repair, recombination and replication of the nuclear and mitochondrial genome. She has developed assay systems for the analysis of DNA repair/replication dysfunction in patient samples associated with cancer risk, immunodeficiency, virus infection and aging, discovered molecular pathways and compounds (de)stabilizing fragile sites during chemotherapy and mechanisms conveying DNA damage tolerance to tumor cells.
