The problem researched in this paper refers to the promotion of the evaluation system in the designing of the pre-school facilities, and the issue is approached from the psychological aspect, in order to investigate the potential for improvement of this kind of structures. In the paper, the systematization of the physical environment factors and their influence on the cognitive processes and the social behavior of children in the pre-school facilities. The conclusion is that the quality of architectonic design, that is, the quality of organization and materialization of the designed physical environment of the pre-school premises correlates with the positive developmental results of the children.

The problem researched in this paper concerns establishing specific relations in child-space relationship. The concepts of child-space relation are here presented and defined in architectural context as: concept of 'awareness' of a specific place, concept of child's bonding to some place in space, identification with and a feeling of belonging to a certain place, and then the phenomenon of a favorite place.

The purpose of this study is to look for possibilities of more quality constructing, i.e. a better organization and materialization of pre-school premises, and also to deal with the problem which comes up considering children's developing needs, based on the psychological aspect and features such space has to have as children's residence. Here in the study has been done a systematization of the possible features of the space in pre-school premises where children can spend time considering the level of positive influence that space can have on their abilities development, as well as their cognition process and socialization.

The analysis conducted in this paper was initiated by the fact that Serbia emitted around 80 million tons of CO2, equivalent in 1990, and in between 85-89 million tons in 2010, which places it among ten countries with the highest emission of CO2 per capita in the world (data by Cener for Ecology and Sustainable Development, Subotica, Serbia). This paper is aimed at making a correlation between the improvement of thermal performance of structural elements of buildings in order to enhance their energy efficiency, which is also economically justified, and reduction of GHG (CO2) emission whose economic benefits are not so easy to assess even though it represents an environmental problem. The case study analysis, presented by this paper, using the example of a select number of kindergartens in the territory of the city of Nis, Serbia, is aimed at determining the correlation of the effects of improvement of their energy performances on the reduction of GHG emission reduction by quantifying the benefits of CO2 emission reduction as a result of energy efficiency improvement reflected through the increase of energy class. The specific review conducted in this paper indicates the environmental importance of improvement of energy efficiency by valorizing the quantitative reduction of CO2 emission as a benefit of implementation of energy revitalization of buildings.

Architecture and its natural environment have always been inextricably intertwined throughout the centuries-old history of civil engineering development. Nowadays, when rapid development and accelerated technological innovations take place and the planet becomes everyday endangered as the result of human activities, nature is a main theme and support, in the focus of architectural creation more than ever. Biophilia in architecture represents an innovational method of architectural designing, in which the accent is on the role of nature in the quality of living and working in built areas. An architecture created based on this principle represents the architecture of the future. This architecture is imagined and created as a healthy and productive environment for a modern man, both in terms of indoor space and in the planning of local communities as active and sociable neighborhoods. By using an analytical descriptive methodology and research references, this paper focuses on contemporary experiences and analyzes selected case studies, in order to establish the elements of a possible model for architectural practice in Serbia.

Children?s patterns of behavior in the school environment, conditioned by various levels of individual or group needs, represent the basic modalities of their relationship towards the immediate, both social and physical, environment. This paper studies the connection between the behavior of school children, whose relationships with their given social environment can take various forms, and certain spatial characteristics of elementary schools. The results indicate that there is a need to achieve a balanced relationship between a strictly defined and an open form of the physical environment in order to create conditions in which school children will express their current orientation and attitude toward their immediate social environment through their behavior in that particular physical environment. This includes the organization of a dynamic and shifting environment, spatial planning which needs to enable a greater degree of privacy in certain zones and the organization of spatial flow which enables adequate visual communication between the school children and the flexible structure of the space meant for education.
