Adolescence is a transformative period in which rapid physical, cognitive and psychosocial growth takes place. Laying the foundation for healthy behaviors is paramount during these formative years. The aim of this review is to determine which countries are leading in research on adolescents’ motivation towards physical activity and healthy habits and their main findings. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA statement using the Web of Science and Scopus databases during the months of September to December 2022. The search terms used were: “Physical activity”, “Motivation” and “Adolescents”, in the following research areas: Education, Educational Research and Sport Sciences. A total of 5594 articles were identified, but only those that met the established criteria were included (32 articles). It is concluded that most of the research is led in Spain with 16 articles, followed by 3 in Chile, 2 in Portugal, 2 in Norway and the rest of the countries with 1. Likewise, most of the works include very similar aspects regarding the incidence of motivation towards the adherence to the practice of Physical Activity and healthy habits.

In order to understand interest, effort and progress in learning as dispositional and contextual variables in the field of education, the activities and strategies that encourage student motivation have been continuously sought, given that they have a fundamental role in sustainability to promote the improvement of their citizenship skills and the achievement of SDGs 3 (health and well-being) and 4 (quality education) set by the UN. The objective of this study is to validate and adapt the Interest, Effort and Progress in Learning (IEPA) and contextual Student Assistance (AYES) questionnaires in the Chilean adolescent population and thus support the sustainable development SDGs. For this purpose, they were applied to a sample in two phases, first with 339 schoolchildren, and secondly, replicated with 3172 students. For their analysis, a data matrix was constructed with distribution and dispersion tests (mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis and range) using the IBM SPSS.27 statistical program. Subsequently, the dimensionality of the scale was studied by applying an exploratory factor analysis with the FACTOR program, version 11, updated in 2021. Finally, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed with the M-PLUS.7.3 program. It is concluded that the instruments provide a method that is valid, reliable, simple to apply and adapted to adolescents, allowing the evaluation of three dispositional variables in students: interest, effort and progression in learning. These data indicate that they have adequate psychometric properties, which allows for a valid and reliable evaluation to contribute to the sustainability of permanent improvement in education.

Nutritional status and physical activity is a worldwide concern, as stated by the World Health Organization when it predicts that almost two out of three people will be overweight in 2030 and that more than 80% of schoolchildren do not perform the necessary physical activity per day. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between physical activity and nutritional status, according to body mass index in Chilean adolescents. It has a cross-sectional descriptive design with a sample that consisted of n=3169 subjects. The instruments were the PAQ-C questionnaire and anthropometric height-weight measurements, and descriptive analyses and ANOVA tests were performed. The results indicate that there is no statistically significant relationship between nutritional status and physical activity in adolescents, but there is a statistically significant relationship between nutritional status among age and sex groups. In general, the older the age, the lower the nutritional status due to excess, in the case of men it is higher than that of women between 10 and 15 years of age. On the contrary, in the group over 16 years of age, women maintain a higher score in nutritional status by excess, reversing these values in men who reach a higher normal nutritional status. Keywords: adolescents, nutrition, physical exercise, Chile.

The aim of this study was to examine whether a relationship exists between the motivational climate and adolescents' interest, effort, and progression in learning in Physical Education classes, considering both gender and physical activity level. The following questionnaires were applied: PMCSQ-2, IEPA, AYES, and PAQ-C to a sample of n=3169 Chilean adolescents. The results were studied through descriptive and correlational analyses showing that there are statistically significant correlations when students perceive that the teacher acts intentionally in their classes towards the task climate, they show greater interest, effort and progression in their learning, highlighting greater motivation in the group that has mild PA in both males and females. But when these variables are related to ego climate, they only correlate positively in men, and negatively in women. When the dispositional and contextual variables are correlated, there is greater interest, effort and progress in learning in the PE class in men. It is necessary for PE teachers to focus their classes on the homework climate, because this will promote greater interest, effort and progression in learning, and will encourage possible adherence to the acquisition of healthier lifestyles.
