Assoc. Prof. Fahrettin Sarcan received his Ph.D. degree from Istanbul University in 2018. His Ph.D. study was related to designing and fabricating a novel near-infrared detector for next-generation fiber-optic communication. After completing his PhD, he studied post-doc at the University of York, UK, between 2019 and 2021. His post-doc study was on 2D transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and their applications in optoelectronics. He has been working at the Physics Department of Istanbul University as an Assoc. Prof. since 2021. Active research areas of Dr Sarcan include “optoelectronic applications of wide bandgap semiconductors”, “optical and electrical properties of novel semiconductors and optoelectronic devices based on novel semiconductors”, and “defect engineering on 2D TMDs and 2D TMDs based electronic/optoelectronic devices such as transistors, photodetectors, and emitters".
