Leukemia is a form of blood cancer that develops when the human body’s bone marrow contains too many white blood cells. This medical condition affects adults and is considered a prevalent form of cancer in children. Treatment for leukaemia is determined by the type and the extent to which cancer has developed across the body. It is crucial to diagnose leukaemia early in order to provide adequate care and to cure patients. Researchers have been working on advanced diagnostics systems based on Machine Learning (ML) approaches to diagnose leukaemia early. In this research, we employ deep learning (DL) based convolutional neural network (CNN) and hybridized two individual blocks of CNN named CNN-1 and CNN-2 to detect acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), and multiple myeloma (MM). The proposed model detects malignant leukaemia cells using microscopic blood smear images. We construct a dataset of about 4150 images from a public directory. The main challenges were background removal, ripping out un-essential blood components of blood supplies, reduce the noise and blurriness and minimal method for image segmentation. To accomplish the pre-processing and segmentation, we transform RGB color-space into the greyscale 8-bit mode, enhancing the contrast of images using the image intensity adjustment method and adaptive histogram equalisation (AHE) method. We increase the structure and sharpness of images by multiplication of binary image with the output of enhanced images. In the next step, complement is done to get the background in black colour and nucleus of blood in white colour. Thereafter, we applied area operation and closing operation to remove background noise. Finally, we multiply the final output to source image to regenerate the images dataset in RGB colour space, and we resize dataset images to [400, 400]. After applying all methods and techniques, we have managed to get noiseless, non-blurred, sharped and segmented images of the lesion. In next step, enhanced segmented images are given as input to CNNs. Two parallel CCN models are trained, which extract deep features. The extracted features are further combined using the Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) fusion method to get more prominent features. We used five classification algorithms, namely, SVM, Bagging ensemble, total boosts, RUSBoost, and fine KNN, to evaluate the performance of feature extraction algorithms. Among the classification algorithms, Bagging ensemble outperformed the other algorithms by achieving the highest accuracy of 97.04%.

Patient record keeping plays a vital role in diagnoses and cures. Due to a shortage of time, most doctors write prescriptions manually in Pakistan. At times, it becomes difficult for pharmacists to read prescriptions properly. As a result, they may dispense the wrong medicine. This might cause risky and deadly effects on the patient’s health. This paper proposes an online handwritten medical prescription recognition system that lets doctors write prescriptions on a tablet using a stylus and automatically recognizes the medicine. We use signature verification techniques to recognize the doctor’s handwriting to overcome the problem of misinterpretation of the medicine name by the pharmacist. The proposed system stores different features like the pen coordinates, time, and several pen-ups and pen-downs. Besides using features already proposed in the literature for signature verification, we propose some new features that greatly enhance recognition accuracy. We built a dataset of 24 medicine names from two users and compared results using newly proposed features. We have obtained 84%, 78%, 77.47% 77.31%, 74.17%, 60%, 38.5%, 68%, and 61.64% accuracies for 9 users using SVM classifier.

In text categorization, a well-known problem related to document length is that larger term counts in longer documents cause classification algorithms to become biased. The effect of document length can be eliminated by normalizing term counts, thus reducing the bias towards longer documents. This gives us term frequency (TF), which in conjunction with inverse document frequency (IDF) became the most commonly used term weighting scheme to capture the importance of a term in a document and corpus. However, normalization may cause term frequency of a term in a related document to become equal or smaller than its term frequency in an unrelated document, thus perturbing a term’s strength from its true worth. In this paper, we solve this problem by introducing a non-linear mapping of term frequency. This alternative to TF is called binned term count (BTC). The newly proposed term frequency factor trims large term counts before normalization, thus moderating the normalization effect on large documents. To investigate the effectiveness of BTC, we compare it against the original TF and its more recently proposed alternative named modified term frequency (MTF). In our experiments, each of these term frequency factors (BTC, TF, and MTF) is combined with four well-known collection frequency factors (IDF), RF, IGM, and MONO and the performance of each of the resulting term weighting schemes is evaluated on three standard datasets (Reuters (R8-21578), 20-Newsgroups, and WebKB) using support vector machines and K-nearest neighbor classifiers. To determine whether BTC is statistically better than TF and MTF, we have applied the paired two-sided t-test on the macro F1 results. Overall, BTC is found to be 52% statistically significant than TF and MTF. Furthermore, the highest macro F1 value on the three datasets was achieved by BTC-based term weighting schemes.

Businesses are overgrowing worldwide; people struggle for their businesses and startups in almost every field of life, whether industrial or academic. The businesses or services have multiple income streams with which they generate revenue. Most companies use different marketing and advertisement strategies to engage their customers and spread their services worldwide. Service recommendation systems are gaining popularity to recommend the best services and products to customers. In recent years, the development of service-oriented computing has had a significant impact on the growth of businesses. Knowledge graphs are commonly used data structures to describe the relations among data entities in recommendation systems. Domain-oriented user and service interaction knowledge graph (DUSKG) is a framework for keyword extraction in recommendation systems. This paper proposes a novel method of chunking-based keyword extractions for hybrid recommendations to extract domain-specific keywords in DUSKG. We further show that the performance of the hybrid approach is better than other techniques. The proposed chunking method for keyword extraction outperforms the existing value feature entity extraction (VF2E) by extracting fewer keywords.
