Prof. Luca Rolle attained his degree in Agricultural
Sciences in 1993 at the University of Torino, Italy. He was a freelance professional
between 1989 and 1998. Since 1999, he has been employed in the Food Sciences unit
of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Science, University of
Torino, and is currently a Full Professor and Director of the Interdepartmental Centre for
Grapevines and Wine Sciences, University of Turin. In 2015, he was awarded the
“Premio Internazionale Territorio & Vino” – Science section by the OICCE
(Organizzazione Interprofessionale per la Comunicazione delle Conoscenze in
Enologia). He is also a member of the Italian Society of Food Science and
Technology (Società Italiana di Scienze e Tecnologie Alimentari, SISTAL),
Italian Society of Viticulture and Enology (Società Italiana di Viticoltura ed
Enologia, SIVE), and the American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV).
Since 1997, he has been a national lecturer for the National Organization of
Wine Tasters (Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Vino, ONAV). In 2018, he
was invited to join the Accademia Italiana della Vite e del Vino. Prof. Rolle's
research activities focus on current and innovative analytical
techniques (spectrophotometry, HPLC, texture analysis, FT-NIR) applied to the
study of food and enological products, the organization and management of
sensory analysis tests, and the design and direction of processes and pilot
plants in the Food Science field.
