Jin Liu is a Professor at the School of Resources and Environment, Nanchang University. He completed his BSc and MSc from Sun Yat-sen University and his Ph.D. from The University of Hong Kong. Following that, he worked as a Research Associate at The University of Hong Kong from 2006 to 2011. He then secured a post-doc Position at Arizona State University from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, he worked as a Researcher at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, followed by a position as a PI at Peking University from 2015 to 2023. Professor Liu’s research interests include basic and applied research on microalgae and microbes for the production of high-value products, biofuels, and biomaterials, as well as for the bioremediation of air, water, and wastewater. His major research interests include: (1) algae physiology and biotechnology; (2) the systems biology of microalgae; (3) the biosynthesis and regulation of carotenoids and fatty acids/lipids; (4) algal growth physiology and mass culture; (5) microbe-based bioremediation; (6) algal biofuels; (7) value-added bioproducts (e.g., astaxanthin and ω-3 PUFA) from algae.
