Full professor at the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade. Research interests are microbiology and biotechnology; isolation, biochemical and genetic characterization of lactic acid bacteria; development of starter cultures for fermented products; molecular identification of bacteria; food microbiology and production of functional foods; applications of probiotics and prebiotics; antimicrobial activity of different materials for biomedical applications (medical devices, dental implant etc). During her professional career, she had several training (three months in a laboratory for molecular determination of lactic acid bacteria - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria; one year postdoctoral research at BCCM/LMG Bacteria Collection, University Gent, Belgium). In the last two decades, she was a participant in many national projects (17) and international scientific projects (3). She was a mentor for one doctoral dissertations and supervised 94 bachelor and master theses. She was a reviewer in international and national journals and member of the scientific committee of scientific meetings. She is a member of Serbian Society for Microbiology and Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). Till now, she published 62 papers in international journals, a five chapters in an international scientific books and three chapters in a national monographs.
