Rectal cancer (RC) is a significant global health burden with distinct anatomical and prognostic challenges compared to colon cancer. Despite advancements in treatment, postoperative recurrence and poor survival rates remain prevalent, particularly in advanced-stage cases. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of systemic inflammatory biomarkers, including hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet, LCR, prognostic nutritional index, CAR, NLR, and SII, in predicting long-term survival outcomes in RC patients. A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 637 patients who underwent low anterior resection for RC at Sakarya Training and Research Hospital between 2015 and 2023. Inclusion criteria were adult patients with complete clinicopathological and follow-up data. Inflammatory biomarkers were calculated using standard biochemical parameters. Overall survival (OS) was assessed through Kaplan–Meier analysis, and the prognostic significance of variables was determined via Cox regression and ROC analysis. Age, follow-up duration, hemoglobin, albumin, CRP levels, and inflammatory markers significantly influenced survival (P < .05). Elevated CRP/Albumin ratios, NLR, and SII values correlated with poor prognosis, while higher hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet and prognostic nutritional index scores were associated with improved outcomes. Advanced tumor stage (T3/T4) and lymph node metastasis significantly reduced OS (P = .002). ROC analysis identified optimal biomarker cutoffs, with AUC values ranging from 0.7 to 0.9, indicating moderate to good predictive accuracy. Inflammation-based biomarkers provide valuable prognostic insights in RC, facilitating personalized treatment planning and follow-up. Future multicenter studies are needed to validate these findings and refine biomarker utility in clinical practice.

Background: Third-space endoscopy (TSE) is a rapidly emerging field in gastrointestinal (GI) medicine that employs techniques such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), and submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection. Despite TSE’s expanding clinical applications and minimally invasive advantages of TSE, the global research landscape and collaborative networks that drive its evolution remain poorly defined. Methods: A comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) was conducted for publications between 2015 and 2025 using predefined TSE-related keywords. Bibliometric indicators, including publication volume, citation analysis, geographic distribution, institutional and author productivity, and keyword co-occurrence networks, were assessed using VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel. Results: Of the initial 47,569 records, 6347 met our inclusion criteria. The number of publications per year has increased steadily from 2015 to 2025, indicating an intensification of academic and clinical interest in the TSE. Japan, the United States, and China were identified as the most prolific contributors, with leading institutions such as the Japan National Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic. Europe has not been able to demonstrate a dominant scientific position in this field, and has lagged behind. “Surgical Endoscopy and Other Interventional Techniques” emerged as the journal with the highest number of articles published in the field of TSE. ESD and peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) are dominant research themes. Conclusion: This bibliometric and visual analysis highlights the expanding role of TSE in modern gastrointestinal endoscopy. This underlines the clinical impact and research momentum. The predominance of Japanese and American institutions points to both geographical clustering of expertise and potential opportunities for wider international participation. Future perspectives should emphasize comparative clinical studies and rigorous long-term outcome studies to confirm the position of TSE as a cornerstone of minimally invasive GI treatment.

E-COMPLAINING IN HEALTH SERVICES: A RESEARCH ON SİKAYETVAR.COM SHARES OF PATIENTS RELATED TO THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT IN TURKEY ABSTRACT Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the complaints made on the internet site complaint about radiology services in Turkey. The study also aims to determine a general profile of individuals who complain about their dissatisfaction with the radiology department to the competent authorities and to systematically examine the reasons for their complaints. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, complaints made to the sikayetvar.com website were examined using the content analysis method, which is a qualitative research method. The last 110 complaints about the radiology department in Turkey, made on the internet to bilgivar.com between July 2023 and August 2023, were included in the evaluation. 34 of these complaints were excluded from the study because they were sent to the wrong department, were insurance-related, and were unclear. Our study was conducted through the analysis of the remaining 76 complaints. Complaints made; They are classified according to gender, type of radiological procedure, results of the radiological procedure, whether it is a public or private hospital, whether they are inpatients, outpatients or emergency patients, satisfaction levels of the patients, number of views of the complaint and the subject of the complaint. Findings: The data obtained were obtained from Reader et al. (15) was analyzed by adopting a deductive approach with the text analysis method, which is one of the content analysis types, in line with the patient complaint taxonomy. It was determined that 51 (67.1%) of 76 complaints about radiology services were made by women and 25 (32.9%) by men. It was found that magnetic resonance (MRI) (27.1%), conventional radiology (24.3%) and computed tomography (20.0%) received significantly more complaints than all other radiological procedures. It was determined that the most complaints were about Management (97.37%) and Communication (98.68%) (Clinical 21.05%). Quality (97.37%), security (15.79%), timing and access (86.84%), and communication (98.68%) comprised almost all of the complaint categories. Delays (88.16%), communication breakdown (93.42%), quality of care (15.79%) and staff attitude (88.16%) were included in almost all complaint subcategories. No complaints were made regarding diagnostic errors or treatment. Conclusion: It is thought that the obtained results can guide healthcare business managers in effective complaint management and help improve patient satisfaction. Knowing the sources of patient dissatisfaction with radiology services can help reduce the number of patient complaints and improve patient care. Keywords: Health services, radiology, patient satisfaction, e-complaint

Objective: To investigate whether the ratios of biochemical markers such as hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte and platelet (HALP) score, lymphocyte-C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) and CRP/Albumin ratio can predict the survival and recurrence of the disease in gastric cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Adult patients who were operated for gastric cancer in our clinic between January 2014 and December 2023 (n: 85) were included in this retrospective study. HALP and CRP/Albumin scores and LCR ratios were calculated from the preoperative biochemical data of the patients. Results: Overall survival of patients with a low HALP score was significantly shorter than that of patients with a high HALP score (30.6 vs 35.5 months) (p

Breast abscesses developing on pre-existing sebaceous cysts are exceptionally rare. Actinomyces species are infrequently isolated as primary pathogens in breast abscesses. As part of the human commensal flora, these bacteria can cause opportunistic chronic infections, often presenting with a granulomatous and slowly progressive clinical course. Gleimia europaea (formerly Actinomyces europaeus), a rare causative agent of actinomycosis, has been infrequently reported in clinical infections. In this case report, we discuss an unusual instance of a breast abscess caused by G. europaea, arising in the background of a pre-existing sebaceous cyst.
