Recent research has shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has holistically affected the financial and industrial sectors of China, in a considerably adverse manner. This paper aims to examine the impact of the COVID-19 virus on the transportation and logistics sector in China. In this regard, the study opted for a quantitative method of research design, along with primary data collection. The explanatory variable here is the COVID-19 virus, whereas, the dependent variables are air freight, ocean freight, and land freight. The data analysis technique used is the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis, comprising of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and the path assessment method. A structured survey questionnaire was also used, and the survey questionnaire scale was set from strongly agree to disagree strongly. The findings revealed that the effect of COVID-19 on air freight is statistically negative and significant. Moreover, the impact of COVID-19 on land freight is statistically negative and significant, whereas the effect of COVID-19 is statistically insignificant in the context of ocean freight, particularly during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, keeping these results in consideration, policymakers can enhance their support, so as to increase the performance of the logistics and transportation sector in China.

This study uses an integrated pedagogical tool for knowledge learning as an on-line tool for flipped classroom activities and as an off-line capability training tool. Theoretically, the Experiential Learning Cycle (ELC) plays a critical role in promoting students learning effectiveness and performance. However, a dearth of research has applied M-learning and flipped classroom in combination with the ELC stages such as concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation to examine the knowledge and ability learning outcomes for students. This study integrates the On line to Off line (O2O) classroom development and usage derived from the four stages of ELC based on on-line knowledge learning and off-line ability training in Microeconomics courses. The results revealed significant improvements in students learning outcomes after O2O mode was implemented. In comparison with traditional teaching methods, not only does O2O teaching significantly improve the students’ learning result of professional knowledge, but O2O teaching also significantly enhanced the capabilities of the students. Furthermore, this study reports the findings from major activities of each ELC stage in O2O classroom practice along with the mapping of on-line learning and off-line training included in the aforementioned stages. Finally, the study provides pedagogical implications and future research directions.

Open innovation is an essential phenomenon in the crowdfunding context. This conceptual piece tends to offer an integrative discussion of three important mechanisms upon which stakeholders of a crowdfunding platform conduct open innovation and value co-creation in crowdfunding sites. These mechanisms include: diversity, knowing, and networking. We argued that: 1. diverse demographic attributes facilitate multiple-party value co-creation; 2. knowledge of platform stakeholders improves quality of ideas; 3. networking positively impacts on open innovation performance. With such discussions, a theoretical foundation for future research is built and more research issues are stimulated.

This paper aims at investigating the relationship between the use of the Internet and access to external finance of small and micro businesses, both theoretically and empirically. We first develop a theoretical model to explore how access to the Internet affects the credit availability of firms. The model suggests that access to the Internet can effectively mitigate financing difficulty of firms by alleviating information asymmetry and reducing agency cost, and thus can promote the sustainable development of those firms. The model also shows that access to the Internet can improve social welfare based on aforementioned mechanism. Using China household finance data from China Household Finance Survey, we tested the impact of access to the Internet on access to finance of small and micro businesses. Our empirical results confirm the positive role played by access to the Internet in alleviating financing difficulty of those firms. Moreover, we also found evidence that access to the Internet can reduce borrowers’ dependence on physical branches of banks when making bank choice decision for loan applications. Our evidence also implies that access to the Internet is conducive to the sustainable development of small and micro businesses via mitigating their financing difficulty.

Happiness is a major factor that influences people’s perceptions and behavior. Two-stage least squares regression was applied to investigate the effect of happiness on the psychological integration of migrant workers in China. The data for a total of 1625 individuals were obtained from the 2014 China Labor-force Dynamics Survey (CLDS). This study describes happiness from three main aspects: happiness, life satisfaction, and economic satisfaction. The psychological integration includes two dimensions of settlement willingness, and trust level; these have gone through dimension-reduced processing by using the weighted average method. The empirical evidence shows, first, that happiness has a significantly positive effect on the psychological integration of migrant workers and second, that the sense of life satisfaction in particular plays a more significant role. The acceleration of the social and political integration in migrant workers will enhance their psychological integration. Additionally, social, cultural and economic integration is found to influence migrant workers’ psychological integration by promoting happiness. Happiness between different generations of migrant workers was found to have a noticeably positive impact on their psychological integration; however, the happiness of the younger migrant workers was more perceivable than that of the other generations. Preferential policies should therefore be provided to improve the happiness of migrant workers.
