Prof. Marzia Traverso has been the director and full professor of the Institute for Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since 1 June 2017. She holds a PhD in Environmental Technical Physics from the University of Palermo, is an environmental engineer, and works in the field of life cycle assessment and sustainability performance in the building and transport sector and strategic environmental assessment of urban transport systems. In 2020, she was nominated as an expert and member of Technical Advisory Committee on Environmental Footprint (Expert Group E03710), PEF EU; Rapporteur of the Technical Working Group of the European Commission’s Platform on Sustainable Finance; and Convenor and Project Leader of ISO 14075 Social Life Cycle Assessment. Her knowledge of LCSA is built on 20 years of experience, starting with her master’s thesis on the LCA of aluminum profiles. She is also chair of the Global Listening Center (Technical Listening).
