Felipe Gómez is a Senior Researcher at the Centro de Astrobiología (INTA-CSIC). He graduated with a Doctor of Science from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He has also been a Visiting Scientist at the Josephine Bay Paul Center – Marine Biological Laboratory, completed a Fellowship at the Centro de Astrobiologia INTA-CSIC, has been a Defense Ministry Scientist at the INTA, and an OPIs Research Scientist at CAB (INTA-CSIC).
Dr. Felipe Gómez is head of the Planetology and Habitability department of the Astrobiology Center (INTA-CSIC). He is currently a Co-Investigator for the Rover Environmental Monitoring Station (REMS) instrument aboard NASA's Curiosity–MSL rover that is presently studying the surface of Mars, and the Co-I of the MEDA instrument aboard NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. Furthermore, he is the Principal Investigator of several European projects, a participating scientist in the study of Exoplanet habitability based on the Stellar type that houses their respective solar systems, and a member of the Europlanet Society, Sociedad Española de Microbiología, European Astrobiology Association (EANA). Moreover, he has received the Group Achievement NASA Award, Group Achievement NASA Award (MSL Prime Mission), and Group Achievement NASA Award (Curiosity operations).
