Lino Marques, graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal in 1992. Later, he received M.Sc. Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from that University for works in optoelectronic range sensors for robotics and mobile robotics olfaction, respectively. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Coimbra, Portugal, and heads the Field Robotics group at the Institute of Systems and Robotics at that university. His main research interests are in the areas of field and service robotics, robotics for environmental monitoring, cooperative and swarm robotics, and mobile robot olfaction and smart sensors. He coordinated activities of ISR-UC in the FP7-TIRAMISU project, involving the research and development of robotics and sensing technologies for humanitarian demining.
