Dr. María José Frutos has 25 years of professional experience as a researcher and Professor of Food Quality and Safety at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in Spain. After gaining a PhD in Food Science in 1995, from 1999 she developed her teaching and research activity at University Miguel Hernández of Elche, Alicante, Spain, where she is currently Full Professor in Food Science and Technology. She holds a Research Proficiency Prize (2014) and a Teaching Talent Prize (2015) in Experimental Sciences and Technical Education at UMH. She has an extensive research publication record, and two patents in the fields of probiotic fermented vegetable beverages and in the valorization of vegetable by-products of the food industry.
