Prof. Dr. Jingnan Liu is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He graduated from the Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping with a Bachelor's degree. In 1982, he graduated with a Master's degree. From 1986 to 2000, he worked at Wuhan University of Surveying and Mapping Technology, serving as a lecturer and deputy director at the Department of Geodesy; a Deputy Director of the Institute of Geospatial Surveying and Earth Sciences; and Director, Dean, and Vice President of the Institute of Satellite Surveying. In 1999, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; from 2000 to 2008, he served as Vice President and President of Wuhan University; from 2012 to 2018, he served as President of Duke Kunshan University. In 2024, he was appointed as the Director of the National Satellite Positioning System Engineering Technology Research Center. He has long been engaged in geodetic theory, applications, research, and teaching, and he has pioneered a series of works in geodetic coordinate system theory, Beidou satellite navigation and positioning technology, software development, and major engineering applications, especially regarding the global satellite navigation system. He has made remarkable achievements in the field of GNSS (GNSS) technology applications and engineering. He is a subject leader in this field in China and a pioneer in the application field of satellite navigation and positioning engineering.
