Prof. Kwabena Doku-Amponsah

Kwabena Doku-Amponsah is the first Professor of Stochastic Analysis from a Ghanaian University and the inaugural Professor of Statistics at the Department of Statistics & Actuarial Science, University of Ghana, who brings over 17 years of academic reserach expertise to the table. He had his Bachelor degree from University of Ghana, MSc degree at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany and Ph.D from the University of Bath, UK. Prof Doku-Amponsah is a seasoned academic with a proven track record of research and teaching at the tertiary level. He was the Head of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science between 2015 and 2022 . His leadership of the Department led to the introduction of new postgraduate programmes in actuarial science (MSc on both sandwich and evening/weekend modes) at the University of Ghana, and was part of the team that drafted the professional Ph.D programme in data science at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS). He currently Science Assesor on the College Appointments and Promotions Committee of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Univresity of Ghana. He has held many University roles in the Academic Board, School Management Committee of SPMS, Institute management commmitte of ISSER, among others. His research interest is in the areas of probability and stochastic analysis; Large deviation theory and its applications in finance, management science.
