Research background: Over the last ten years, a substantial amount of scholarly research has delved into energy communities (ECs) from diverse viewpoints. These ECs are extremely important in setting the pathway to a clean energy transition. Purpose of the article: Our objective is to glean valuable insights from publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database to deepen our comprehension of ECs and their academic discourse. Methods: Data analytics, factorial analysis, and more complex natural language processing (NLP) techniques such as latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) are implemented to extract valuable insights from over 1000 WoS publications relevant in the EC field. The primary contribution of this study lies in furnishing details regarding the key contributors to the EC scholarly landscape, including authors, their affiliations, universities, and countries of origin. Additionally, we aim to elucidate the prevalent keywords and thematic approaches employed in their research endeavors. Findings & value added: Considering the extracted dataset, an annual growth rate of 21.15% has been recorded, highlighting the research community’s interest in the field of ECs. Furthermore, three topics are optimally obtained. Overall, a coherence score of 0.44 suggests that the LDA model performs adequately in terms of topic interpretation. Topic 1 relates to community-based energy initiatives. Topic 2, featuring terms like “grid,” “study” and “EU” alongside “energy” and “community,” suggests a focus on energy systems. Topic 3 includes terms such as “generation,” “analysis” and “consumption,” indicating a topic that is centered around the technical or analytical aspects of energy production and usage. This study underscores how the alignment between state laws and EU directives in supporting ECs can serve as a model for other regions. The findings suggest that similar policy frameworks could be effectively adapted to different national contexts, providing valuable insights for countries looking to enhance their renewable energy strategies.

In this study, we undertake a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the cybernetics research field. We compile a dataset of 4856 papers from the ISI Web of Science database spanning 1975–2022, employing keywords related to cybernetics. Our findings reveal an annual growth rate of 7.56% in cybernetics research over this period, indicating sustained scholarly interest. By examining the annual progression of scientific production, we have identified three distinct periods characterized by significant disruptions in yearly publication trends. These disruptions have been thoroughly investigated within the paper, utilizing a longitudinal analysis of thematic evolution. We also identify emerging research trends through keyword analysis. Furthermore, we investigate collaborative networks among authors, their institutional affiliations, and global representation to elucidate the dissemination of cybernetics research. Employing n-gram analysis, we uncover diverse applications of cybernetics in fields such as computer science, information science, social sciences, sustainable development, supply chain, knowledge management, system dynamics, and medicine. The study contributes to enhancing the understanding of the evolving cybernetics landscape. Moreover, the conducted analysis underscores the versatile applicability across various academic and practical domains associated with the cybernetics field.

This paper presents a bibliometric analysis within the research domain dedicated to the utilization of agent-based modeling (ABM) in the field of transportation. By employing specific keywords related to both agent-based modeling and transportation, we have identified and extracted 1016 scholarly papers from the ISI Web of Science database, spanning the period from 2002 to 2023. Through the application of bibliometric methods, we have systematically examined key contributors, affiliations of academic institutions, influential publications, and renowned journals within this domain. Our analysis reveals a consistent and robust growth in scholarly interest pertaining to agent-based modeling in the field of transportation throughout the considered period. Notably, within approximately four decades of ABM’s application in transportation, a distinct upward trajectory began in 2008, culminating in the year 2021. The entire considered period witnessed a remarkable surge in paper production, characterized by an annual growth rate of 21.67%. Furthermore, employing an n-gram analysis, we have delineated and discussed the principal areas within transportation that have progressively benefited from the advancements in agent-based modeling. Prominently, the domains of air transport and road transport have exhibited substantial development over time, while the implications of climate change have emerged as a persistent concern throughout the entire study period.

Over the past years, machine learning and big data analysis have emerged, starting as a scientific and fictional domain, very interesting but difficult to test, and becoming one of the most powerful tools that is part of Industry 5.0 and has a significant impact on sustainable, resilient manufacturing. This has garnered increasing attention within scholarly circles due to its applicability in various domains. The scope of the article is to perform an exhaustive bibliometric analysis of existing papers that belong to machine learning and big data, pointing out the capability from a scientific point of view, explaining the usability of applications, and identifying which is the actual in a continually changing domain. In this context, the present paper aims to discuss the research landscape associated with the use of machine learning and big data analysis in Industry 5.0 in terms of themes, authors, citations, preferred journals, research networks, and collaborations. The initial part of the analysis focuses on the latest trends and how researchers lend a helping hand to change preconceptions about machine learning. The annual growth rate is 123.69%, which is considerable for such a short period, and it requires a comprehensive analysis to check the boom of articles in this domain. Further, the exploration investigates affiliated academic institutions, influential publications, journals, key contributors, and most delineative authors. To accomplish this, a dataset has been created containing researchers’ papers extracted from the ISI Web of Science database using keywords associated with machine learning and big data, starting in 2016 and ending in 2023. The paper incorporates graphs, which describe the most relevant authors, academic institutions, annual publications, country collaborations, and the most used words. The paper ends with a review of the globally most cited documents, describing the importance of machine learning and big data in Industry 5.0.

In an era where all information can be reached with one click and by using the internet, the risk has increased in a significant manner. Deepfakes are one of the main threats on the internet, and affect society by influencing and altering information, decisions, and actions. The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has simplified the creation of deepfakes, allowing even novice users to generate false information in order to create propaganda. One of the most prevalent methods of falsification involves images, as they constitute the most impactful element with which a reader engages. The second most common method pertains to videos, which viewers often interact with. Two major events led to an increase in the number of deepfake images on the internet, namely the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Together with the ongoing “revolution” in AI, deepfake information has expanded at the fastest rate, impacting each of us. In order to reduce the risk of misinformation, users must be aware of the deepfake phenomenon they are exposed to. This also means encouraging users to more thoroughly consider the sources from which they obtain information, leading to a culture of caution regarding any new information they receive. The purpose of the analysis is to extract the most relevant articles related to the deepfake domain. Using specific keywords, a database was extracted from Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science Core Collection. Given the significant annual growth rate of 161.38% and the relatively brief period between 2018 and 2023, the research community demonstrated keen interest in the issue of deepfakes, positioning it as one of the most forward-looking subjects in technology. This analysis aims to identify key authors, examine collaborative efforts among them, explore the primary topics under scrutiny, and highlight major keywords, bigrams, or trigrams utilized. Additionally, this document outlines potential strategies to combat the proliferation of deepfakes in order to preserve information trust.
