As infant development is the result of a multitude of complex interactions spanning several biological systems, my research takes a systems biology approach to understand how early-life nutrition influences the metabolic pathways and molecular mechanisms underlying human development. My primary focus has been the combined impacts of early-life iron deficiency and other environmental exposures on metabolism and cognitive development.
