Yuyang Gao earned his Bachelor’s degree from Dalian University of Technology in 2012, followed by a Master’s degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2015, and a Ph.D. from Peking University in 2020. He conducted postdoctoral research at Peking University from 2020 to 2023, awarded by the fellowship of China National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talents. In 2024, he joined the University of Science and Technology Beijing as an Associate Professor. His primary research focuses on space-division multiplexing (SDM) technologies, including SDM fibers, devices, and transmission systems.
