Identifying correlates of sedentary behavior in older adults is of major importance to healthcare. To our knowledge, there are no population studies in Latin America examining which factors are associated to high sitting time in older adults. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify socio-demographic, clinical, and health behavior correlates of sitting time in a representative sample of older adults living in Southeastern Brazil. A cross-sectional study was conducted in twenty-four municipalities of the Triangulo Mineiro region in the State of Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil. A structured questionnaire was applied to obtain information on socio-demographic, clinical, and health behavior factors. Overall sitting time was assessed using a self-report instrument. A Multiple Correspondence Analysis was used to verify the association of sitting time with socio-demographic, clinical, and health behavior factors. 3,296 older adults (61.5% women and 38.5% men) were included in the analysis. The overall median was 240.0 minutes of sitting time/day. The Multiple Correspondence Analysis showed that the group with the highest sitting time presented the following characteristics: women, age greater than 70 years, unschooled status, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, use of medication, poor self-rated health, dependence in basic activities of daily living, and absence of regular physical activity. This study reveals that socio-demographic, clinical, and health behavior factors are associated with high sitting time in older adults from Southeastern Brazil. The results may help to identify older adults that should be targeted in interventions aiming at reducing sitting time.

In recent years, many tools have been proposed to reduce programming learning difficulties felt by many students. Our group has contributed to this effort through the development of several tools, such as VIP, SICAS, OOP-Anim, SICAS-COL and H-SICAS. Even though we had some positive results, the utilization of these tools doesn’t seem to significantly reduce weaker student’s difficulties. These students need stronger support to motivate them to get engaged in learning activities, inside and outside classroom. Nowadays, many technologies are available to create contexts that may help to accomplish this goal. We consider that a promising path goes through the integration of solutions. In this paper we analyze the features, strengths and weaknesses of the tools developed by our group. Based on these considerations we present a new environment, integrating different types of pedagogical approaches, resources, tools and technologies for programming learning support. With this environment, currently under development, it will be possible to review contents and lessons, based on video and screen captures. The support for collaborative tasks is another key point to improve and stimulate different models of teamwork. The platform will also allow the creation of various alternative models (learning objects) for the same subject, enabling personalized learning paths adapted to each student knowledge level, needs and preferential learning styles. The learning sequences will work as a study organizer, following a suitable taxonomy, according to student’s cognitive skills. Although the main goal of this environment is to support students with more difficulties, it will provide a set of resources supporting the learning of more advanced topics. Software engineering techniques and representations, object orientation and event programming are features that will be available in order to promote the learning progress of students.

Objective: to analyze the self-efficacy of elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the relationship with sociodemographic, clinical, knowledge, and attitude variables. Method: a cross-sectional quantitative study conducted with 256 elderly people enrolled in Family Health Strategies. Data were obtained through interviews. Descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression model were performed (p <0.05). Results: female, 69.95-year mean age, white skin color, 4-7 years of schooling, living with a partner, retirees, low individual monthly income, 6 to 15 years of illness, Catholics, living with children (with or without spouse). The elderly’s low knowledge and negative attitude prevailed. Self-efficacy was associated with attitude and knowledge in the domains “General and Specific Diet”, “Physical Exercise” and “Blood Glucose”. Conclusion: self-efficacy investigations in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus management in the elderly are important and encourage treatment adherence.

The advent of technologies such as 5G makes it possible to improve the availability and quality of existing services and introduce new ones, such as enhanced mobile broadband, IoT applications, augmented reality, mission-critical services, cloud gaming, or smart infrastructure. It is now possible to get faster responses to a wide range of requests, but the addition of more users and services can still make normal operation difficult due to network congestion, bandwidth limitations, scalability issues, service differentiation, or security concerns. To solve this problem, and to help meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), some services must be brought closer to the user. The Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) initiative is a step in this direction, enabling cloud-like services to be moved closer to the end user, providing lower access latencies. However, the dynamic nature of edge computing environments, and the mobility of users, require the implementation of automated service delivery processes that can adapt to environmental conditions, such as the use of optimal policies tailored to the scenario. This article surveys the research focused on MECs, particularly those that use automated deployment mechanisms, namely Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. Today, these tools play a key role in automated deployment mechanisms, especially for maintaining optimal policies, which is still under investigation. The result of this assessment has been the identification of the relevance of IaC to these processes and the identification of future research directions.

Objective: To evaluate the satisfaction of octogenarians with Primary Health Care services. Method: a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, was carried out with 30 older users of the Family Health Strategy, selected by a non-probabilistic sample. Data were collected at home, using the following questionnaires: the mini-mental state exam, a questionnaire on sociodemographic factors, health conditions and access to services, and a questionnaire on satisfaction with Primary Health Care. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The satisfaction analysis showed that the elderly octogenarians are satisfied in terms of care ( X ´ = 6,0 ; ± 1,5) and the interest that community agents demonstrate in them ( X ´ = 5,9 ; ± 1,6) and the availability of nurses for their treatment ( X ´ = 5,9 ; ± 1,1). Aspects related to the waiting time for nurses ( X ´ = 4,6 ; ± 1,6) and doctors ( X ´ = 4,9 ; ± 1,6), facilities for the disabled ( X ´ = 4,6 ; ± 1,4) and the perception that the unit is close to a perfect health unit ( X ´ = 4,6 ; ± 1,8). Conclusion: The services were positively evaluated, reflecting the importance of considering the perspective of octogenarian users in the planning of healthcare actions, since the evaluation of the quality of these services can lead to changes and guide actions in a way that is coherent with the lives of users, increasing their effectiveness, especially regarding actions aimed at the octogenarian population.
